Special Session on Artificial Intelligence in Education
Due to the recent breakthroughs on the deep neural networks and the rapid development
of the high performance computing chipsets, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been widely
applied in various commercial applications including robotics, disease diagnosis,
emotion detection, social media analysis, autonomous cars, face recognition,
video/image generations and so on. Although there ar e plenty of domain specific AI
applications, it is difficult to find a successful or well known AI application in the area
of education. In other words, the potential power of AI applications in education has not
been fully exploited and released. Therefor e, this special issue aims to discuss the
research trends and future development of artificial intelligence in education. The topics
of this special issue are mainly related to artificial intelligence applications in education,
which mainly includes the fo llowing themes:
- Artificial intelligence for e-learning
- Visualization of educational big data
- Educational applications of deep neural networks
- Intelligent tutoring systems
- Natural language processing for education
- Machine learning for education
- Neuroscience applications in education
- Educational data mining
- Learning analytics
- Smart learning environment
- Big data in education
- Learner emotional and Behavioural analysis
- Artificial intelligence in educational technologies
- Learner and student modeling for a rtificial intelligence applications
Submission and Review Process
Each paper will be reviewed by at least two programme committee members, and final decisions are given by the guest editorial board based on the scores given by the reviewers of this special issue. Submissions to accepted special sessions will be 2 pages in IEEE two-column style. All papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee on the basis of technical quality, relevance to BESC 2019, originality, significance and clarity. Please note:
- All Special Session paper submissions should use IEEE two column style. Templates
are available from
http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html
- All Special Session papers must be submitted electronically through the paper
submission system in PDF format only. BESC 2019 accepts research pap ers (6
pages), industry papers (2 pages), special session papers (2 pages) and demo papers
(2
- Submitted papers must not substantially overlap with papers that have been
published or that are simultaneously submitted to a journal or a conference wit h
proceedings.
- Papers must be clearly submitted in English and will be selected based on their
originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation.
- Submission of a paper should be regarded as a commitment that, should the paper be
accepted, at least one of the authors will register and attend the conference to present
the work.
- Paper submission system is available at: https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=besc2019
All accepted conference papers will be submitted for inclusion into IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I), e.g. EI and DBLP. Top quality papers after presented in the conference will be selected for extension and publication in several special issues of international journals, e.g., World Wide Web Journal (Springer) and Social Network Analysis and Mining (Springer).
